In this exhibition, the Hortus association from Liechtenstein presents traditional fruit varieties that you can no longer buy in supermarkets today.

All of the varieties of apple are found in Liechtenstein and were once planted and cultivated by the rural population above all for their own use. The visual range of colours and shapes alone suggests that these fruit also offer an abundance of different tastes and aromas.

Hortus - Association for the preservation of old cultivars in the Principality of Liechtenstein

Triesenberger Weinapfel, Vaduzer Dauerapfel and Leuser are traditional varieties of apple in Liechtenstein that have been rediscovered by the Hortus association. They were almost forgotten, much like the Schwefelbohne (a variety of French bean) or Rebelmais (a variety of maize). Together with its members, Hortus, founded in 2005, ensures that these treasures are preserved for future generations and once again become a staple.

Project space 'Parliament of Plants'
17 July 2020–17 January 2021

As part of the exhibition Parliament of Plants, the admission-free 'Seitenlichtsaal' is conceived as a changing, growing "project space". It links the immediate outside world with questions of art and will enablemeetings between a wide range of scientific and artistic-poetic approaches to and perspectives on the plant kingdom.

A production of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, curated by Christiane Meyer-Stoll with Annett Höland, co-curator of the project space.
